Nudge Support

Need help with Nudge? Most answers are below. If you can't find yours, email us at kellis@zenoova.com. To help us help you, please include your Apple Watch model, its watchOS version, and the version of Nudge (shown in the App Store).

Getting started

What do I need?

An Apple Watch with watchOS 10 or later, paired with an iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Install Nudge from the App Store on your iPhone. The watch app installs automatically, or from the Watch app on your iPhone (My Watch > Available Apps).

How do I set an alarm on Apple Watch?

  1. Open Nudge on your watch.
  2. Scroll the timeline or turn the Digital Crown to set the time you need to be up. The range at the top shows your smart window, for example 7:00 AM → 7:30 AM.
  3. Tap Enable. The screen turns blue and shows your wake-up time: the alarm is armed.

To turn it off, tap Disable.

What is the smart window?

It's the period before your deadline during which Nudge may wake you. Instead of ringing at one exact minute, Nudge looks for a favorable moment inside that window, and always wakes you by your deadline at the latest. You can set it from 5 to 30 minutes in the watch app's Settings (gear icon) > Smart window. watchOS caps Smart Alarm sessions at 30 minutes, so the window can't be wider.

How does Nudge choose the moment?

During the window, Nudge compares your wrist movement and recent heart rate with your usual baseline. Early in the window it waits for a clear signal. As the deadline gets closer, it lets you wake more readily. If no favorable moment comes up, it wakes you at your deadline.

How does the wake-up work?

Nudge wakes you with haptics on your wrist that start softly and build up progressively. Tap I'm Awake to stop them.

How do I plan alarms on iPhone?

Open Nudge on your iPhone and tap +. For each alarm you can set the time, the repeat days (Every day, Weekdays, Weekends, Once, or any days you pick), the smart window and a label. Use the switch next to an alarm to turn it on or off, and swipe left on an alarm to delete it.

My alarms don't show up on my watch

Alarms sync automatically between your iPhone and Apple Watch. If they don't:

Power naps

How do I take a nap?

Tap the moon button at the top left of Nudge on your watch. Nudge shows "Settling down…" and starts the nap timer once it senses you've fallen asleep. It then wakes you at a favorable moment around your target of about 20 minutes. Tap End Nap (or Cancel before you fall asleep) to stop.

If a morning alarm is armed, it's paused during the nap and re-armed automatically afterwards.

I see "Nap couldn't start"

The watch's background session ended unexpectedly. Tap OK and start the nap again.

Troubleshooting

Nudge didn't wake me, or woke me late

Do I have to give Health access?

No. Health access lets Nudge use your heart rate and sleep data to choose a better moment, but the app keeps working in a simpler mode without it. To change your choice later, go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Health > Nudge on your iPhone, or tap Request access again in Nudge's Settings on your watch.

Is Nudge a medical device?

No. Nudge does not diagnose sleep disorders or detect sleep stages with certainty. It estimates a favorable moment to wake you from the signals your Apple Watch makes available. Please don't rely on it as your only alarm for important events.

Privacy

Nudge doesn't collect any personal data: no account, no tracking, no ads, and your health data never leaves your Apple Watch. Read the full Privacy Policy.
